10 Reasons to Join the Rotary Club of Steamboat Springs
Being a member of Rotary is unlike an other organization in the world. We are inclusive, non-political, and
non-religious community of professionals and neighbors dedicated to friendship, fellowship, and service.
Whether you are looking to give back, grow professionally, or build lifelong friendships, here is why you
should join us:
1. Global Connection and Support
Founded in 1905, Rotary is an international network of over 33,000 clubs across more than 200 nations. Wherever you travel around
the globe, you will find a welcoming local club to visit, connect with members, and even rely on for assistance during travel
emergencies.
2. A Bridge to the Steamboat Community
We serve as your direct connection to the Yampa Valley's non-profit sector. Through volunteer opportunities and local service projects,
Rotary makes it easy to take action and leave a lasting, positive impact right here at home.
3. Weekly Education & Inspiration
Our weekly lunch meetings feature guest speakers from local non-profits, civic organizations, and community programs. It's an easy,
engaging way to stay informed about local initiatives, upcoming projects, and pressing community needs.
4. Different Membership Types
Our Club offers two membership types to fit your schedule:
• Active Membership: The standard, full-participation membership. Active membership includes weekly Rotary meetings. Weekly
meetings include informative presentations that help us stay informed and connected in our community and internationally and help
us gain motivation and insights to make a positive difference.
•. Impact Membership: Impact membership is designed for individuals who want to be Rotarians and get involved and connected
through volunteering and social opportunities but cannot commit to weekly meetings.
5. Inclusive Fellowship for Families & Guests
Rotary is a welcoming space for everyone. Members are encouraged to bring guests to meetings, and spouses and partners are
always invited to participate in our service projects, outings, and social events.
6. Leadership & Personal Growth
Rotary provides endless opportunities to sharpen your skill set through committee leadership, public speaking, event planning, and
regional or international workshops. We value new ideas, fresh perspectives, and every member's voice.
7. Investing in Local Youth
We actively support Routt County students at every stage of their education:
• Elementary School: Annual book or dictionary distribution to local 3rd graders.
• Middle & High School: Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) camp sponsorships to build confidence and leadership skills in
8th-11th graders.
•. High School Service Clubs and Trips: High School Interact Club and hands-on international service trips, including projects in Mexico.
•. Global Youth Exchange: Year-long or short-term summer cultural exchange programs for high school students,
Scholarships for higher education for Routt County seniors.
8. Meaningful Professional Networking
Our membership includes business owners, public servants, non-profit leaders, and professionals from across the valley. It's an
authentic, supportive network where members readily share advice, collaborate, and help one another succeed.
9. Fun, Friendship, and Monthly Socials
We work hard, but we also know how to enjoy the mountain lifestyle! Beyond our regular meetings, we host monthly social events
across town—from happy hours and pickleball games to local ranch tours and ski days on the mountain.
10. Purpose Driven by Service Above Self
Rotary brings together active, engaged citizens who inspire one another. If you believe in service to others, love getting involved, and
want to build lasting relationships with people who share your values, you will feel right at home here.
