Attracting new members is a vital part of keeping our club strong and vibrant and so thank you for your interest!
There are several ways to find out more about who we are and what we do:
First, please continue to come to meetings! This is the best way to get to know us and to consider whether we are a good fit for you. Yes, all Rotary clubs have somewhat different cultures and personalities. Please come as a guest of one of our members so we have a member contact for you.
Second, sign up to be on our “Friends” mail list to receive information about our activities, upcoming meetings and where they will be held.
Third, we invite you to look over our website: www.steamboatrotary.org
for information, including photos and videos about our recent service activities.
Fourth, you may also like to look over the Rotary International website: www.rotary.org. This is an easy way for you to begin to realize that we are a huge global organization which impacts the world in profound ways.

Attend Required Meetings: Attend at least 3 meetings prior to submitting your application.
Identify Two Member Sponsors.
Submit Application (Member application) and Bio to Membership Chair, Adrienne Stroock amstroock@gmail.com
Attend an Orientation which is scheduled once your application is received.
Next Your Application Is Presented for Approval to The Board of Directors
Once Approved by The Board of Directors, One “Reading” is made to the Club members to ensure there are no objections to your membership.
Next You Will Be Inducted at our regular meeting
Finally, After Your New Member Introduction Talk, you will become a full official member with a permanent blue badge!

FAQ’s for Prospective Members:
Do I pay for my lunches?
As a prospective member, your first two lunches are provided by our club. After that, you need to pay the Club Secretary upon arriving for the cost of the guest lunch. If a member has told you they will cover your lunch cost, then please let the Club Secretary know and they will bill that member.
Can I participate in Good News?
Yes! Please note Good News must not be political, religious or inappropriate in content.
When and how do I submit my application?
Once you have attended the required meetings, complete our online application: Membership Application
You then need to submit it and a short bio to our Membership Chair, Adrienne Stroock
What happens at an Orientation?
This is a time when we describe our expectations for members – financial, service and participation commitments. This is so you will know what you are saying “yes” to!
What happens if objections are raised about a prospective member?
Objections are very rarely raised. If they are, the objections are taken to the Membership Committee for discussion and if not resolved, the membership application goes back to the Board of Directors.
What happens at my induction?
It is a short and sweet ceremony! One or both of your sponsors will give a 1 – 2 minute intro of you. Our Membership Chair will have the club stand and will read a short welcoming statement. The President will then give you your red name badge. You’ll also get your plaque, pin and other swag and you can then say “Thank you!”
When do I do my New Member Talk and what am I supposed to talk about?
You will be scheduled for your talk about 6 months – one year from your induction.
You’ll have 10 minutes to tell us whatever you want about your life, career, family.
You can use slides or not – both are great! And you’ll get your blue badge during Good News!
