Thanks to everyone who joined our meeting on Tuesday!  We had 67 people total, including 53 Steamboat Rotarians and 14 guests, including our speaker, on the call.

Today's program was the impressive Emma Roca from "Team Summit" Eco Challenge Worlds Toughest Race.  Despite our connection challenges, her message was clear and inspiring.  Emma's presentation is attached and more information is available at www.emmaroca.com.

Rotary Ski Day: John Holloway has reserved March 16 for the Rotary Ski Day.  Everyone keep your fingers crossed and your distance so that we gather and ski together by then!

RYLA: Ian Engle highlighted the article on AJ Juneau in the Steamboat Pilot last week and the important role that the RYLA committee had in his life. 
The summer before eighth grade was when he made the biggest step toward deciding where he fell on the gender spectrum.
At a Rotary Youth Leadership Awards camp, Juneau introduced himself as AJ and said he was using he/him pronouns.
“That was a way to figure that out about myself, because no one knew me as anything else there,” Juneau said. “That’s when it clicked — this is right.”
Thank you to the RYLA committee (Ian Engle, Elissa Greene, Lynaia South and Meg Morse) for representing all of the youth in our community when selecting RYLA and Young RYLA participants!
 
 
Bylaws Revisions: Karl Gills spearheaded a review and revision of the club's Bylaws.  The recommended Bylwas have been approved by the Board of Directors and now needs to be approved by the club.  Karl sent the revisions to the entire club on Friday, February 12.  Please take some time to review them and send any comments to Karl for consideration.  We will vote on the Bylaws on February 23 and need 33% of membership on the call and a majority vote to pass.  Thanks to Karl for all of the time he has put into this!
  
Snowmobile Poker Run, Saturday, March 20th: Eric Rabesa and Brett Allison are working on a new fundraiser/community event- a Snowmobile Poker Run.  Please reach out to them if you would like to help with the event or sponsor!
 
Paul Harris Fellow Opportunity: Scott Marr announced the district's push for new Paul Harris Fellows.  For the next 100 Rotarians who join the PH Society, an additional $250 from the district reserve will be added to the Annual Fund in your name.  An email from Scott Marr went out earlier this week with more details!
 
Global Grants Update:  Paul Hebert reported on changes to Global grants.  Global grants are now defined as having a minimum budget of $30,000 and a maximum World Fund award of $400,000. This means that applicants can use a combination of District Designated Funds (DDF), cash, and/or directed gifts and endowment earnings to fund a global grant. The Foundation will provide a 100 percent World Fund match for all DDF contributions.

The hope is this new policy will make it easier for applicants to put together financing for a global grant since they are not constrained by the necessity of securing at least $15,000 in DDF to receive $15,000 in World Fund.

1. District Designated Fund (DDF) contributions transferred to PolioPlus will be matched at 50%.

2. The World Fund match of DDF will be reduced from 100% to 80% when being used for global grants.

3. Five percent of the current year’s Annual Fund-SHARE contributions will be taken equally from the World Fund and DDF to help fund operating expenses.

4. The ability to roll over unused DDF will be limited to five years. At the end of each Rotary year, DDF that has been held for more than five years will be applied at the district’s discretion to PolioPlus, area of focus Endowment funds, the general Endowment Fund (including the Rotary Peace Centers), the Disaster Response Fund, or the World Fund. The first DDF rollover redirection will take place 1 July 2026.
 
Pickleball Happy Hours: Loretta Conway is putting together more Rotary Happy Hour Pickleball on the last Tuesdays of February (23rd), March (30th) and April (27th) from 5-6:30 for 8 players maximum. Cost is $5 per person and preregistration is required. Preregister by calling 879-8400 or emailing loretta@steamboat10s.com.  Reserve your spot soon!  
 
Moon Hill Dairy Fundraiser: John Weibel is hosting another Farm to Table Fundraiser at Moon Hill Dairy this summer (my favorite dinner of the summer!)  He is looking for help coordinating volunteers.  If you would like to help him, please shoot him an email.
 
District & International News -
 
Rotary International is hosting a titled Exploring the Black Experience in Rotary on Feb 25 3:00PM (Chicago Time)/2:00 PM Mountain Time
Through hearing stories of Black Rotarians around the word, we will:
- Open ourselves to talking about race and identity.
- Become aware and acknowledge how our own social identities impact the club and community experience.
- Allow space for all Rotarians to bring their full, most authentic selves to our organization.
 
The Rotary Club of Ft. Collins https://www.rotarycluboffortcollins.org/ invites you to their three part series about racial inclusion on Wednesdays at noon titled "The Radical Center: Building Bridges Across a Red-Blue America".

Manic Training is working on a virtual and socially distanced outdoor fundraiser for LiftUp called IGNITE on March 5th, 6th and 7th.  
 
Any Rotary Club of Steamboat Springs referred participant will receive $10 off of their registration and the Rotary Club of Steamboat Springs will receive $20 per participant referred. (The balance of the registration will go to cover the City trail fees and other set-up expenses.) The registration address is https://www.bikereg.com/manic-ignite.
