Thanks to everyone who joined our meeting on Tuesday! We had 55 people total, including 53 Steamboat Rotarians and 1 guest and our speaker on the call.

Thank you to Angi Wood for leading Good News today. The club's generosity raised $642 towards the Scholarship Fund!
Today's program was Soniya Fidler, President of UCHealth Yampa Valley Medical Center. We are so lucky to have this hospital and the leadership, now more than ever! I was not yet able to get Soniya's presentation, but will post to the website when I receive it.
Announcements and Upcoming:
Youth Exchange Update: Karen Schneider updated us on the Youth Exchange Committee. The committee is updating our guide books, recruiting for new members, and preparing and hopeful for an exchange in the 22/23 school year. If you are interested in getting involved with the Youth Exchange Committee, please reach out to anyone on the committee- Adrienne Stroock, Angela Catterson, Heather Martyn, John Weibel, Kris Hammond, Lori Livingston, Paul Hebert, Tara Weaver, Tiffany Leeson, Karen Wray, or Karen Schneider.
By-Laws Revision: Karl Gills wrapped up the By-Laws revision with a vote from the club to accept the proposed revisions. The vote passed. Thank you Karl! And he has wasted no time moving on to Policies Review.
New Webmaster: Alright team- Steve Sehnert needs your help (he can't do everything after all!) He has been our reliable webmaster for as long as I can remember, but as he moves into the role of District Governor, he needs someone else to take this off his plate! Of course, he is here to help, answer questions and train! This is a great way to meet people, get more involved, and get to know the power of ClubRunner. Please reach out to Steve to learn more about the responsibilities of the position if this is of any interest to you!
Rotary Ski Day: John Holloway has reserved March 16 for the Rotary Ski Day. Everyone keep your fingers crossed and your distance so that we gather and ski together by then!
March Happy Hour - March 25: Karen Schneider will be hosting a Rotary Happy Hour on Thursday, March 25th. More details to come!
Snowmobile Poker Run, Saturday, March 20th: Eric Rabesa and Brett Allison are working on a new fundraiser/community event- a Snowmobile Poker Run. Please reach out to them if you would like to help with the event or sponsor!
Pickleball Happy Hours: Loretta Conway has two more Rotary Happy Hour Pickleballs scheduled on the last Tuesdays March (30th) and April (27th) from 5-6:30. Cost is $5 per person and preregistration is required. Preregister by calling 879-8400 or emailing loretta@steamboat10s.com. These nights are SOOOO fun!
Moon Hill Dairy Fundraiser: John Weibel is hosting another Farm to Table Fundraiser at Moon Hill Dairy this summer (my favorite dinner of the summer!) He is looking for help coordinating volunteers. If you would like to help him, please shoot him an email.
District & International News:
2022 Peace Fellowship Applications now available: Applications are due in May, and there are 130 fellows positions available. Each fellow earns either a masters or a certificate in peace and development studies in one of 7 peace centers around the world. If you know someone who is dedicated to global peace and development, this could be an incredible opportunity for them! Learn more:
- Take the All About the Rotary Peace Fellowship course to learn about qualification requirements, eligibility restrictions, the application process, and more.
- Send emails to your contacts with the fellowship announcement attached.
- Use our referral form to tell us about potential candidates, and we’ll follow up with them
District 5440 Passport Club: The Rotary Club of SS has talked often of how to be more flexible and inclusive for people interested in being a member, but not able to make the noon meetings. Well, the district must have heard us talking because they are working on a Passport Club. The District 5440 Passport Club is specifically designed for members we have lost in the past, current members we are at risk of losing, or any other membership prospect for whom the traditional club meeting format does not work.
The initial recruitment of members for the District 5440 Passport Club will target “Those touched by Rotary”, who are not currently Rotary members. This group includes: Scholarship recipients, RYLA Alumni, Young RYLA alumni, Parents of students, participants, awardees and those above, Exchange students, Peace Fellows, and those who have left Rotary for a variety of other reasons.
The intent of this club is not to compete with current clubs, but to offer another option to those individuals who have not yet joined, have left, or are considering leaving Rotary. For more information click here.
Community Outreach:
Manic Training is working on a virtual and socially distanced outdoor fundraiser for LiftUp called IGNITE on March 5th, 6th and 7th.
Any Rotary Club of Steamboat Springs referred participant will receive $10 off of their registration and the Rotary Club of Steamboat Springs will receive $20 per participant referred. (The balance of the registration will go to cover the City trail fees and other set-up expenses.) The registration address is https://www.bikereg.com/
