FOR THOSE ROTARIANS WHO MISSED THE MEETING ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 2014
On Tuesday, November 11, 2014, we remembered and paid tribute to our wonderful friend and outstanding Rotarian, Michael Roberts, who left us all too soon and too suddenly. Michael was an extremely active Rotarian. Among other things, Michael served as a Past Club President and was one of the main “movers and shakers” in building the Rotary Boardwalk and, most recently in erecting the Peace Pavilion at Rotary River Park. We were joined by Michael’s Family, Marne, and children Ryan, Drew and Tina, plus a few other members of the Roberts Clan. The Roberts Family’s presence made our meeting extra special. The remembrances and tributes for Michael, in a Good News format, capably orchestrated by Brian Harvey, lasted almost an hour. We then saluted Michael with a “Bon Voyage” champagne toast and wished him – “Godspeed.”. This was a very special Rotary meeting that we will all remember and cherish for a long time. Ellen Kendall, John Holloway and Scott Marr deserve our thanks for arranging this very special meeting.
We also remembered our Veterans with a strong and rousing Pledge of Allegiance, at the outset of the meeting.
Thank you to John Kuhn who served as our GREETER and introduced our special guests, the Roberts Family, and all our other guests and visiting Rotarians who wanted to share this meeting with us.
Ian Engle gave us our THOUGHT FOR THE DAY and continued our theme of paying tribute to our Veterans and to Michael’s memory.
Thank you to Eric Rabesa for creating a new Club Directory for us. Super detailed job – well done! Thank you also to Jeff Swoyer for printing the Club Directory.
