Thanks to everyone who joined our meeting on Tuesday! We had 56 people total, 51 Steamboat Rotarians and 5 guests! Thank you to Scott Marr, Andy Wallace and the Holiday Inn for allowing us to use the Holiday Inn pool for the meeting. Thank you to Chris Stillwell for getting the PA set up. Eric Rabesa and Brett Allison were awarded Paul Harris Fellows for their stellar work on the Poker Run! Thanks for all you did to make that event such a success!
Brian Harvey awarded Tony Counts with a Paul Harris Fellow for all of the work Tony and the crew at Snowbowl did for our community this year. Snowbowl served over 20,000 free meals to people in need at the beginning of the pandemic! Brian was able to give this honor from points accrued through his own giving to Rotary International!
Brian Harvey led Good News today bringing in $636!
Thank you to Chuck Cerasoli, Fire Chief for the Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue, Rotarian and Vice-Chair of the Routt County Wildfire Mitigation Council, for his presentation on the Council's mission and goals. United Way Day of Caring: Thank you to Tara Weaver for coordinating United Way Day of Caring on Wednesday. And thanks to the Rotarians who joined her to help out at Strings- Ellen Kendall, Holly Rogers, Andy Wallace, Matthew Rochon, Gillian Morris, Adrienne Strook, and Jim Moylan.
May Happy Hour: Thank you to Kris Hammond for hosting happy hour last night at Stehley Park!
Flower Barrels: Flower barrels are being delivered to Steamboat Monday, June 7th and to the community on Tuesday, June 8th. They are available for order now at https://rotaryflowerbarrels.com/. Get yours soon as they are going quickly! There will be no noon meeting on June 8th. Instead, we will have a family friendly BBQ following delivery!
Brad Meeks announced that we will need some help with watering flower barrels this summer. Mainstreet Steamboat has contracting for watering Monday through Thursday and will need volunteers to water downtown barrels Friday - Sunday. If you are able to help, please signup at volunteersignup.org/37BJH. More information:
- Lisa has access to the water tank and a trailer
- Vehicles will need to have a hitch
- Two volunteers are needed per shift- one to drive and one to water
- Watering will include barrels and hanging baskets along Lincoln and Yampa St.
- Volunteers need to meet at the pump house at Howelsen
- Hours to water are 6am-8:30am
- Once the route is completed return the trailer and tank to the pump house and fill the tank so it is ready for the next day
June 1 Meeting at Warhorse Ranch - need RSVP: The meeting on June 1 will be at Warhorse Ranch (https://warhorseranch.org/). The ranch will be presenting and providing food so we will need a solid count of people attending. Please be on the lookout for a signup for the meeting. Only those that RSVP yes to the meeting will be able to attend.
Moonhill Dairy Farm to Table Dinner - June 26: John Weibel is hosting another Farm to Table Dinner at Moonhill Dairy on June 26th. Karen Wray is helping with the coordination and details. If you would like to help with the preparation, please email Karen Wray.
Changing of the Guard: Changing of the Guard will be Tuesday, June 29th. No noon meeting that day. More details coming soon!
Lobsterfest: Save the date for Lobsterfest, Saturday September 11th! The event will be at the downtown fire station and the beneficiary will be Routt County Crisis Support. Thank you PJ Wharton and Yampa Valley Bank for being the title sponsor for this year's Lobsterfest!
Steamboat Hoedown: The Ski Town Rotary Club is putting on Steamboat Hoedown benefitting Ski Town Rotary and the Boys and Girls Club. Please save the date - September 3rd at Brown Airplane Hanger. Sponsorship opportunities and more details will follow!
Next Tuesday's meeting will be at the Botanic Gardens (thanks Jennifer MacNeil) and will be Vic Fleming presenting "Life is a Puzzle". Vic writes crossword puzzles for the New York Times and Rotary Magazine.
