Hello Rotarians,

It was a busy meeting today, with the club celebrating June birthdays, giving thanks to Rotary Park cleanup volunteers, and hearing a fascinating presentation by George Stroberg, a veterinarian who volunteers for the Iditarod each year.  Mr. Stroberg's photos, information on the Iditarod and the dogs who are the stars of the show was followed by lively questions from club members.

Our next regular meeting on June 12 is cancelled and being replaced with delivery of flower barrels - please meet at the rodeo grounds between 4:30 and 5:30 pm on Tuesday, June 12 to deliver the flower barrels.  A BBQ catered by the Smokehouse will follow - so if you can't make the flower delivery, please join the club for the BBQ.

The Golf Classic - with Alpine Bank as the lead sponsor - is next weekend!

The Charity Auction will be Friday, June 15th at the Sheraton.  I encourage all club members look at and place an opening bid on the auction items, which are listed at www.skitownclassic.com/auction Mignon Stetman provided information on some of the incredible auction items, which include some amazing trips and items.  Mignon noted that the Auction committee is still accepting auction items and encouraged club members to donate to the event.  Jane Denning passed out the auction tickets - if you haven't received yours, please contact Jane to get your tickets.

The induction of Mike Forney as District Governor for the 2012 - 2013 Rotary Year will be Thursday, June 14th at Rex's.  Drinks and heavy appetizers will be at 6:30 pm with speeches and presentations at 7:15 pm.  Please join Mike in celebrating his upcoming role and service to the District.

In addition to the program - the club heard the following announcements:
  • Flower Barrels - The club has 52 flower barrels that still need to be sold, as well as a small number of hanging baskets.  If you are interested in purchasing a barrel or basket (which would be great), please contact Karl Bunker or Debbie Aragon.

  • Golf Classic - Jim Nowak announced that he is still seeking volunteers for the Golf Classic Auction on Friday, June 15.  If you can assist auction table monitoring Friday night, please contact Jim Nowak.

  • Rotary Park - Paula Cooper Black noted that Rotary Park is looking great and that she was recruiting volunteers to walk the boardwalk each week to collect trash - if you can spend an hour one day this summer walking the park and picking up trash, please contact Paula.

Finally, several members of the club will travel to Estes Park this weekend for the District Conference to partake in conference activities and promote the Steamboat conference next year.

Have a great week!
