Meeting Notes - May 22, 2012

Hi Everyone,

My goal is to make clubrunner a robust tool for our club - so forgive with me on the lack of event information and photo albums on this first clubrunner bulletin.

The meeting today was jam packed, with Dan Callahan presenting Mallory Richey as Student of the Month for May and Rod Hanna providing a great slideshow of the Rotary Boardwalk - with lots of great information on the history of the boardwalk, plus photos of boardwalk construction and how it functions today.  John Holloway, the club's current Rotary Park person, reminded the club that we will not have a lunch meeting next week, and instead the club will spend time working at Rotary Park and on the boardwalk, followed by a BBQ.  Work begins at 2pm, with a BBQ for the whole family (with fly fishing and music) at 5pm. 

 Other meeting events included:

  • Mignon Stetman presented an update on the Golf Classic - kudos to Mignon, the sponsors, and all of the volunteers for putting together this amazing event.
  • Jim Nowak asked folks to sign up to volunteer for the golf tournament - contact Jim to help as there are still volunteer positions needed
  • The four exchange students (Deniz, Mallory, Kestral and Hope) talked about their fundraiser for ShelterBox, which is at the Steaming Bean on the first friday Artwalk in June.  Thanks to Leslie Gamel for supporting the girls in setting up this fundraising event.
  • Scott Marr reported that the club will have 4 - and potentially 5 - teams in the Bike To Work month competition in June
  • Karl Bunker noted that we still have flower barrels available - if you want to purchase a flower barrel, contact Karl or Debbie Aragon.
  • Karl Bunker also asked folks to sign up for volunteering for the flower barrel delivery on June 12.  The June 12 meeting will not be held, and instead the club will deliver flower barrels.
  • Rod Hanna noted in Good News that he will have a personal art show at the Art Museum in June, and invited the club to see his work during the first Friday artwalk.
