Meeting at Olympian Hall provides the perfect setting to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. You can look up in any direction and find the American flag. Add the colorful flags to a beautiful sunny day and the Hall provides a more than acceptable option for our noon lunch meeting. Member attendees did not even need the banner to perfectly (or close to) recite the Four-way Test. Thank you all for your flexibility.
Brett Allison was our Rotary member of the day. He came early to help set-up tables and chairs, performed the duties of Greeter and introduced guests, offered, along with his wife Joanna, the Steamboat Minute, and when asked, circulated the room for Good News. Thank you Brett! Brett and Joanna opened a new Allstate Insurance office after arriving in Steamboat and provide a variety of products and services. Remember, the Steamboat Minute is your chance to promote your business or just tell us what you do. If you haven’t done one yet, you WILL be given an opportunity!

Thank you, once again, to Gillian, Kathy and their crew for all of their hard work on Flower Barrels. The flowers were outstanding this year and were enjoyed by our community and visitors alike.
Thank you to Ashley, Susie and the whole committee for another very successful Barn Dance. The music, the raffle prizes, the games and the FOOD, all combined to make a great evening for everyone! The Barn was full and there were no lines…way to go!
Geneva has been organizing the forums for the political candidates and ballot issues that will take place in October and requested help with a timer. Steve S. stepped up for the Oct. 2nd forum. Please invite your family and friends to the join us for the forums.
Steve Hitchcock activated his auctioning skills and brought in another $600 to add to the Barn Dance proceeds. There are parts of the pig that cannot be used for the pulled pork dinner, such as bacon and sausage, and Steve auctioned them off along with a 23lb ham that Rex donated to the cause. Thank you, once again, for your generosity Rex.
Todd Hagenbuch, Director and Agricultural Agent for the CSU Extension office provided our program. He described a brief history of the Extension office, dating back to 1914 and the Lever Act, and outlined the many responsibilities of his office. From discovering ways to keep the beef in our community, researching the changing composition of grasses in our area, brainstorming new innovative ways to keep agriculture alive, developing leadership in our 4H programs, to training Master Gardeners and Master Food Safety Advisors to much, much more, the Extension office has become a huge resource. Thank you Holly for the suggestion on inviting Todd to present to our Club, it was a very interesting program.

Next meeting we are back at The Grand and the program will be the first of three political forums. This forum will feature the candidates for the Routt County Commissioner’s race, the Routt County Sheriff’s race and the non-contested Routt County candidates.
