Heather Martyn raised $574.37 through Good News.
Amy Rustan Haslett, the Bureau Strategic Planner in the U.S. Department of State’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (the TIP Office), presented to the club on human trafficking. Her presentation contained so much information and led to many questions and conversation which continued to the "after hours" portion of the meeting. Holly Rogers did a first reading for new member Ed Allbright.
Jim Moylan underwent back surgery yesterday at YVMC. In an email from Jim this morning - "Feel remarkably good!!! Thank you and all my fellow Rotarians for all the positive energy, vibes and prayers sent my way. They clearly helped and were heard. Hope to be discharged this afternoon."
Next week's program will be led by Tara Weaver and will be presentations from past Grant recipients.
BOD Meeting Update
The Holiday Tubing Party Committee, with the support of the BOD, has decided to cancel this years tubing party. There was much discussion about different ways to continue a holiday celebration to fit into 2020. We look forward the development of those ideas!
Thank you to Ellen Kendall for securing a $1000 district grant. The Rotary Club of Steamboat Springs will match that grant with $500 towards a PR effort in support of the new Child Advocacy Center.
Lynaia South has reached out to Grand Lake and Winter Park Rotary clubs to find out how we can be of service to them. When the time is right, we will find a way to help our neighbors!
Alex Kleman's resignation was accepted . He and his family have moved to Durango and he has already found a new Rotary club to join. Durango is a lucky town!
Ellen Kendall and Eric Rabesa proposed a virtual Dunk Tank Fundraiser. Please reach out to them if you are interested in being part of the committee.
District and International News
The 2020 Rotary Virtual Institute is November 12-14. Registration is $48 per person and includes presentations from RI VP Johrita Solari, RI President Holger Knaack, Travel Guru Rick Steves, leadership guru Steve Farber, and RI President Nominee Jennifer Jones (1st ever female RI President)!
