Thank you to 28 people who attended today's Rotary meeting either in person or via Zoom to hear from Jennifer MacNeil, the new Executive Director of the Yampa River Botanic Park. The Yampa River Park hosts 35,000 people annually, a "conservative number" according to Jennifer and is free for all to enjoy from May through the end of October. We were also lucky enough to hear from Bob Enever who founded the park along with his wife Audrey. Bob shared the mission of the park as "A place of serenity, celebrating the trees, shrubs, plants and birds of the Yampa River Basin."

Marci Valicenti reported that Tim White and family are doing well. They are being very cautious for the time being with the new baby, but will let us know when they are open to receiving help from the club. Bethany Karulak and family are doing well and, with three small children, would love some dinner help! Keep an eye out for a meal sign up from Marci. Marci also connected with Geneva Taylor who just had Whipple surgery on June 23rd. Her recovery has been challenging and she is not yet back to Steamboat. Perhaps we will be able to help her when she returns to Steamboat in August. In the meantime, please send her some uplifting cards and good vibes. Loretta Conway is hosting a Pickleball Mixer on Thursday, July 30th at the Tennis Center of Steamboat. The event will be outdoors from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Please bring chairs, paddles (if you have them) and your own drinks. Please also wear a mask when not on the court. There will be plenty of space for social distancing so please join regardless of your desire to play! We would just like to see you there!
John Weibel is hosting his Farm to Table dinner at Moonhill Dairy on August 1st from 5:00-9:00. Tickets are $150 and there are still a few left. Please email me if you would like to attend.
Chancie Keenan heard from Eva Reynolds who presented to our club on Robotics. Although the State Robotics competition was canceled, the local competition was held and Eva was the Grand Champion! She expressed her appreciation for Rotary's support and for getting her class new robots.
Next week's program will be a short presentation from the 4-H Club followed by Britt Woodrum who has been hiking Colorado's 14ers with a Shelterbox on her back in order to raise Shelterbox awareness. If you are attending John Weibel's dinner on Saturday, you will get to meet Britt in person. She will be attending with Filip Boelen after they hike ANOTHER 14er!
Thank you to Rex Brice for allowing us to have August meetings on the back patio at Rex's. The meals will be individually plated and tables will be small and spaced out. There are also plenty of chairs to move further away if that is preferred. If you have not come to an in person meeting, please consider trying out some of them over the next month. I am sure you will find that there is enough space to feel comfortable and still have some in person fellowship!
