IMPACT Grant Approved - May 2026
May 2026 Rotary IMPACT Grant
Recipient: United Way of the Yampa Valley
Grant Amount: $15,000
Activity: Funding for the Kindness Kiosk, an innovative, community-based donation vending machine program designed to connect residents and visitors with the needs of local nonprofit organizations throughout the Yampa Valley.
In partnership with Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation, United Way of the Yampa Valley will launch the Kindness Kiosk to provide a simple, interactive way for individuals to support more than 20 local nonprofits. Through the vending machines, donors can select and fund specific needs, such as meals for families, childcare assistance, youth programs, transportation for seniors, mental health services, domestic violence survivor support, and adaptive recreation opportunities.
The $15,000 Rotary IMPACT Grant will support the technology and infrastructure necessary to launch the program, including user interface development, payment processing systems, machine branding, and related technology. Steamboat Resort is providing the vending machines at no cost, significantly reducing startup expenses.
The program is scheduled for a full launch at Steamboat Resort in December 2026, with plans to rotate the kiosks seasonally among high-traffic locations and community events throughout Routt and Moffat Counties.
Designed as a sustainable, year-round community resource, the Kindness Kiosk aims to engage more than 500 donors and raise $30,000 in its first year, benefiting an estimated 1,000 individuals. Over five years, the program projects generating $200,000 in support for local nonprofits.
This project will create a lasting connection between community generosity and the organizations serving our region's most pressing needs.
