Following the Pledge and the Four-way Test we welcomed two visiting Rotarians and a number of guests. Included in the guest lineup were several members of Susie’s family, present to enjoy her Classification Talk.  Jim Nowak was our Greeter and he did a fine job, thank you Jim.

Hazel Hoff stepped up to offer our Thought for the Day, facing our fear.  Great comments and quotes regarding something we all possess.  I appreciate the amount of “thought” that our members put into presenting the Thought for the Day, thank you.

The Steamboat Minute is off and running again.  Minute being that two of our members are allowed 30 seconds each to promote their business or just share with the Club anything about their line of work.  Ashley Kane, the Queen of TP and Coleman Cook, the Real Estate Sales residential specialist, kicked it off.

Announcements –

Celina – reflected on our Board’s decision to continue with the requirement of members to purchase one ticket to the fundraising events.  She is very passionate about Why she is a Rotarian and asks us to consider Why we are.  We have lowered the requirement of purchasing two tickets to events and we have the ability to donate the tickets back, give them to family or friends, or sell them if we wish.

Karen – our Exchange Student Committee Co-Chair is in need of members to step up and help with the Exchange Student Ski Trip scheduled for January 25-27.  We will host Exchange Students from around our District and it requires a lot of planning and coordinating of host families, meals and entertainment.  Please consider helping with this event, as it occurs only once every four years and we want these students to remember their time in Steamboat Springs!

Loretta – asked for volunteers to offer their Corn Hole set-ups to the middle school for short term use.  As usual, in the Rotarian way, she had enough volunteers step forward in a matter of moments.

Ellen – speaking for Paula, asked for volunteers to walk Rotary Park this week for cleanup. She also reminded us that Peace Pavilion pavers are available for sale and to please bring Rotarian magazines to the Club meetings, rather than recycling them.

Barn Dance save the date cards were distributed and posters will be available in about a week.

Summer Exchange Student applications are being accepted for 2019.  Please see the details below.

Some of our most popular programs continue to be the Classification Talks given by our newer members and Tuesday was no exception.  Susie Wilkinson and Mike Schlictman presented a glimpse into their lives and had us bouncing between tears and laughter.  If there is ever a reason NOT to miss a Rotary meeting, Classification Talks is it!  When do you get the chance to discover the families, the growing up experiences, the jobs, the “hair styles” behind the Rotarian that you get to sit next to for lunch?  Thank you Susie and Mike for providing such an interesting and entertaining program.

Next week Tiffany Leeson will be presenting her Classification Talk and we will have some fellowship and  introduction of new Club info for the remainder of the meeting.  Don’t miss it!
