Thank you Bethany Karulak for providing Thoughts for the Day:

On February 2, 1848, U.S. and Mexico signed the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo which ended their war. The U.S. paid Mexico $15 million in exchange for California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, and Texas.

February is the only month where it’s possible to go the entire time without having a full moon.

It was in February 1964 when The Beatles made their first American television appearance on the “Ed Sullivan Show.” Over 73 million Americans watched!

February has been Black History Month for over 40 years.

And she finished with a powerful Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. quote: "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."

Thank you to Kristal Eckley for leading Good News today bringing in $496 for the scholarship fund!

Today's program was Becky Schmitz on her time fueling planes for scientific sites in Antarctica.  Such an interesting story she has! Make sure you take a look at her pictures.  Sorry to say that her presentation was too large for ClubRunner, so it is abridged only giving you a taste of all the great pictures!  Click here for the abridged presentation.

Announcements and Upcoming:

Rotary Club of Steamboat Springs Endowment: Scott Marr updated the club on the status of the Endowment Fund.  As of January 1, 2021, the balance of the fund was at $831,698!  Thank you, Rotarians, for your generosity to our local fund.  All of our local grants come from this fund, so the higher the balance, the more we can grant to our community!
