FOR THOSE ROTARIANS WHO MISSED THE TUESDAY, APRIL 14, 2015 MEETING
Our Program on Tuesday was: “An Inclusive Workforce,” organized and presented by Club member Ian Engle, Executive Director, Northwest Colorado Center for Independence. Ian was accompanied by his colleagues in the Inclusive Workforce Coalition of Steamboat: Brooke Lightner, Business Outreach Specialist, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation; Lisa Lorenz, Executive Director, Yampa Valley Autism Program and Mike Dwire, Routt County Vocational Coordinator, Horizons Specialized Services. Thank you Ian and Panel for this very informative Program. I watched some Club member’s eyes light up and wheels starting to turn in response to the benefits of your Inclusive Workforce concepts you conveyed.
Karen McRight and Jonathan Bishop served as our Greeters, and Jonathan introduced our guests and visiting Rotarians. Thank you Karen and Jonathan. Thought for the Day was presented by Lynaia South, referencing an on-line article written by her niece about her “Happy Place” – our home town of Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
We also celebrated Club Anniversaries: Alice Klauzer (20 yrs.), Debbie Aragon, (18 yrs.), Cam Boyd (15 yrs.), Steve Hitchcock, (11 yrs.) and Steve Sehnert, (33 yrs.)
We  recognized and celebrated new Paul Harris Fellows, P.J. Wharton and Grant Fenton. Grant and P.J. were presented with their Certificates and Pins. Congratulations and thank you P.J. and Grant for your generous contributions to the Paul Harris Fellowship.
Lynaia announced that we have an incoming female Exchange Student from Germany. The Elliott’s will be the first host family. If you are interested in serving as a host family please get in touch with Lynaia.
Jim updated the Club members present about the preceding day’s Board of Directors’ Meeting. The highlight and the item most favorably received was the Boards’ decision to increase the number of scholarships for this Summer’s RYLA Program from 4 to 5 of our local High School students.
Jackie updated us on the Ski Town Golf Classic – June 12-13, 2015.
Steve advised us of the new date for the Barn Dance - September 26, 2015
Scott handled a very successful Good News for us, primarily because three Club members deposited their Birthday money in the hat. Those Club members, in descending order of longevity, are: Sam Haslem, Mike Forney and Brian Harvey. Thank you Gentlemen, and thank you Scott.
Next Meeting – Tuesday, April 21, 2015 Noon, at: “The Grand,” Club Day.
Good News: $486.00
Attendance: 55%
Respectfully submitted,
Jim Moylan, Club President
