FOR THOSE ROTARIANS WHO MISSED THE TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 2015 MEETING
Thank you to our Greeters, Jeremy Behling and Bobby Davis. Jeremy also introduced our Guests and visiting Rotarians.
Karen McRight’s Thought for the Day was inspired by some of her Mother and Mother Theresa’s axioms and sayings, 10 in all! Thank you, Karen
Brian Harvey took care of Good News, for us. Thanks, as always, Brian.
We received a visit from The Penguin, Lisa Joens and her capable assistant, Ellen Campbell, from the Healthcare Foundation for the Yampa Valley to rally support for the upcoming: “Penguin Plunge,” Saturday, March 21, 2015 – 12:00 PM at the Catamount Lake House Pool. We continue to search for a Rotary Club team to enter.
John Holloway stepped up to organize our Club Ski Day on Tuesday, March 17, 2015, since past Chair, Scott Marr will be unable to take on the organization duties this year. Scott, thank you for all your efforts in past years organizing our Ski Day.
Tony Counts and David Lamb stepped up to Co-Chair the Ski Town Classic. Much appreciated David and Tony. There are already a number of Club members committed to various tasks needed for the success of that Summer event.
Jim called for volunteers to participate in an Ad Hoc Governance Committee to review the Club’s governing documents – the Constitution and our By-Laws.
While we just finished our Program on the Rotary International Foundation and the Paul Harris Fellow recognition, Scott, Paula and Grant have reserved Tuesday, March 31, 2015 to bring us up to date on our Steamboat Rotary Foundation and the Jack Black Fellowships.
Steamboat Clean-Up Day is Saturday, May 16, 2015. Tara will be coordinating our efforts.
Greg Smith, Executive Director of the Colorado Public Employees Retirement Association (“PERA”), ably assisted by Jeff Sprole, presented our Program. We all certainly learned a lot about PERA in particular and private retirement plans and Social Security in general. PERA’s operation is quite impressive and its total returns were eye-opening. Thank you Greg and Jeff for your very informative presentation.
                Second Reading for Bob Weinman.
                Good News:  $284.00
                Attendance: 51%
Next Meeting: Tuesday, February 24, 2015 12:00 pm at “The Grand.” Program – Interact Club and Agua Prieta, MX., Service Project Trip.
                Respectfully submitted,
                Jim Moylan, Club President
