FOR THOSE ROTARIANS WHO MISSED THE TUESDAY, JUNE 2, 2015 MEETING
The Rocky Mountain Youth Corp., one of our Grant recipients, represented by Gretchen Van De Carr and Jaiya Ellis, presented our Program for the meeting. I, for one, did not know the scope of the services provided to so many age groups in our community. Thank you Gretchen and Jaiya for an informative and entertaining Program. Thank you to Winnie for arranging the Program.
Jim Clark delivered our Thought for the Day. In keeping with the upcoming Ski Town Golf Classic, Jim’s theme was humorous golf stories from golf caddies. Thank you Jim, we all got a few laughs!
Paula Cooper Black and Tara Weaver served as our Greeters and Paula introduced our guests and visiting Rotarians. Thank you both.
Dave Roy and Matt Ellinghausen discussed the upcoming collegiate baseball league this summer on the Western Slope and our local team – “Steamboat Storm.” Housing is still needed for some of the collegiate baseball athletes for the 6-7 week season. Please let Dave or Matt know if you can assist.
David Wittlinger was recognized as our Rotarian of the Month, for the many things he has done primarily: “behind the scenes,” over the past several months.
Flower Barrels are coming up, as Gillian and Kathy reminded us. Saturday, June 6, 9:00 am, Rodeo Grounds, retrieve and repair barrels. Tuesday, June 9, 2015 - 5:00 pm, Rodeo Grounds – distribute Flower Barrels followed by a Smokehouse, Butcherknife Brewery and Central Park Liquors catered Bar-B-Que - Families welcome.
We recognized and thanked all those Rotarians who worked at the American Legion Hall in Hayden on Saturday, to “spruce-up” the facility for our Routt County Seniors, (“RCCOA”). Thank you all for a job well done! The Legion Hall was transformed!
Ski Town Golf Classic is coming up, June 12 and 13, 2015. Tara is still looking for more wine donations. Scott Wither is in charge of Volunteers and we need Volunteers for the Friday evening event and at the Catamount Golf Course. Glenn Traylor is Chairing the Golf Sub-Committee. There are still a few golf spots available. Jackie once again recognized our Sponsors, without which this event could not occur. This is our biggest fund-raiser of the year and we need participation from our Club Members and friends. The Committee has been doing a fantastic job.
More Club members have stepped up with Gifts and Gift Certificates for our Steamboat Springs Gift Basket for the Silent Auction at the District 5440 Conference in Fort Collins 6/17-21/15. Thank you all, for your generous support! Gillian is coordinating the donations.
Ellen is still looking for Club members to serve on the Rotary Peace Pavilion Dedication Committee.
The 4th of July Parade is coming up and we need a “Parade-Master.” Please contact Jim if you can take this on.
Thank you to Scott Marr for handling Good News, much appreciated!
