FOR THOSE ROTARIANS WHO MISSED THE TUESDAY, JUNE 23, 2015 MEETING

This was Jim’s last regular meeting as Club President. We will be: “Changing the Guard,” next Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at 5:00 PM, at the Rotary Peace Pavilion in Rotary River Park.  It includes a: Family Bar-B-Que, 2014-2015 Rotary Year-end Awards and Recognition, introduction of the 2015-2016 Board of Directors and other fun activities.

It was much appreciated and very appropriate that the last meeting of the 2014-2015 Rotary Year closed with such a powerful Program by our Steamboat Springs neighbor and friend, Kim Hess. Her Program on her experiences on Mt. Everest during the earthquake a few months ago was nothing short of amazing, breathtaking and awe-inspiring. Thank you so much Kim and we are so grateful for your safe return home.

Julie Taulman and Kerry Shea served as our Greeters. Julie also introduced our guests and visiting Rotarians. Thank you both.

Jim gave our Thought for the Day. Jim took the opportunity to do a brief re-cap of his year as Club President, reserving the details of his 2014-2015 Year for the “Changing of the Guard.” Jim thanked the Club for its support, (during a sometime trying year), all the work done by the Club members for the benefit of our Steamboat Springs community, and for all our fellowship and the great parties we all enjoyed this past year.

Scott Marr and Grant Fenton, Foundation Co-Chairs, distributed the remaining Jack Black Fellowship Awards to: Sam Haslem, Steve Sehnert and Jeremy Behling. Thank you, gentlemen for your generosity and support of our local Jack Black Foundation.

We inducted Otis Wragg as our latest: “Best New Member Ever.”  Ellen did the honors. Otis was sponsored by Kerry Shea and Rich Gloor. Welcome Otis, we are glad you are with us.

Scott and Lynaia told the Club about the District 5440 Conference in Fort Collins, Colorado last weekend and displayed all our District Awards: “Light Up Rotary” – Peace Pavilion; Community Service – Peace Pavilion, Future of Rotary – (Most members under 40 years of age), Vocational Service Award, Presidential Citation Award, and our Interact Club at the Steamboat Springs High School received the District Presidential Citation Interact Award. We cleaned up! Congratulations to all members of the Rotary Club of Steamboat Springs and our Interact Club at the Steamboat Springs High School.

Grant is organizing the 4^th of July Parade. Watch Club-runner e-mails for the date to construct the float. We will need as much help as possible

Please say thank you to the Heberts and Forneys for hosting our visiting Rotarians from India. We lived the concept of Rotary’s Friendship Exchange.

Thank you to Kris Hammond for again taking care of Good News for us.
