Thanks to everyone who joined our meeting on Tuesday!  We had 66 people total, including 61 Steamboat Rotarians, 2 guests, 2 Students of the Month and our speaker on the call.
 
Eric Rabesa provided Thought for the Day from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr:
 
“No work is insignificant. All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence.”
 
And followed the quote up with what the quote means to him and how it relates to us and our work as Rotarians.  "While this quote tells us all to respect and honor hard work, no matter the job, from a custodian to a carpenter, it also can be applied to our work as Rotarians. All manner of hard work requires a strong work ethic and a commitment to do the best of your ability. It is important to teach this to our children as well as remind ourselves that no job is too small. So keep up the good work Rotarians, keep writing your Thankuary cards, keep supporting one another and the community, and keep looking forward to the great things we can achieve together."

Our presenters were Melissa Lahay, Director of Sales & Marketing, with an update on Casey's Pond followed by Angi Wood's Classification Talk.   Melissa's presentation is attached.  If you missed the meeting, make sure you watch the recording because Angi has led a super interesting life and you will learn so much about her!

Students of the Month - January: Thanks Angela Catterson and PJ Wharton for bringing Student of the Month back!  The January Students of the Month went to Kendra and Paxton Sollars who have carried on the 9/11 Project, placing a flag for each person lost in the 9/11 attacks, in the lawn at Yampa Valley Bank.  Kendra and Paxton have been leading this project, originally started by Kyle Case 7 years ago, for the last 4 years.  As always, we are inspired by these young adults!
 
Rotarian of the... -  It is hard to say he is honored for just one month!  Mark Fitzgerald has saved the club time and time again since March when he first agreed to take on Zoom (before most of us even knew what Zoom was!) Weekly, he is in contact with our presenters, making sure they have everything they need for our meeting. He shows up on the calls early every week, stays late, and keeps the meetings flowing and entertaining. And all of this was even more work when we were having hybrid meetings. When he agreed to become the next president, we both agreed we would support each other through those years, but he has done so much more than support me! He has supported the entire club fully and is a pillar in the success our club has seen this year. Mark Fitzgerald has received a Paul Harris Fellow (and my never ending appreciation) for all of his work!
 
Rotary Cares:  Thanks to Marci Valicenti for keeping up with our club members.  She has coordinated meals for both Debbie Aragon and Dan Bonner post surgery, as well as arranged for a stationary bike to be delivered to Adam Wilson to help with rehabbing his hip.  More meals for Dan and Debbie would be welcomed!  I know many people reach out directly when we read Marci's Rotary Cares emails, but please remember to keep her in the loop!  It helps her know that our friends are being well taken care of!  Thanks for all of your generosity!
 
RYLA/YOUNG RYLA: Ian Engle brought us up to speed on RYLA and Young RYLA.  Important dates below and complete details available at www.rmRYLA.org:
 
Feb 15 registration opens
Feb 28 - Deadline for slots requests
March 15 - Payment deadline 
 
There will be 2 senior RYLA events on 7/18-7/23 and 7/25-7/30 (both at YMCA is Estes Park), 2 Young RYLA events on 6/6-6/11 (Estes Park) and 7/18-7/23 (Snow Mountain Ranch in Winter Park), 20 RYLA Plus spots available for physically challenged teens at Rocky Mountain Village in Empire, CO (date TBD).
 
All 2020 RYLA and Young RYLA applications were carried over from 2020 to 2021. RYLA is open to all 10th, 11th and 12th graders in 2021.  Young RYLA is open to current 7th graders only.

Thankuary: Don't forget about Thankuary! And don't think it is too late to begin!  If you write one card or 31 cards, you are doing your part!  Thankuary cards are available for free to Rotarians at Elevated Olive in packs of 10 or 30.  If Thankuary is coming to an end too soon, next month is Lovuary, and the month after is March Gladness.  Nofoolinary/April Showers (of love and thanks) follows next!  If you didn't see it, Thankuary made it in the District 5440 newsletter: 

Pickleball Happy Hours: Loretta Conway is putting together more Rotary Happy Hour Pickleball on the last Tuesdays of January (26th), February (23rd), March (30th) and April (27th) from 5-6:30 for 8 players maximum. Cost is $5 per person and preregistration is required. Preregister by calling 879-8400 or emailing loretta@steamboat10s.com.
 
2021 Ford Bronco Sport or $20,000 Raffle for Cheyenne Rotary Foundation Fundraiser
 
Starting in January through the end of May, the Cheyenne Rotary Club is raffling tickets for a chance to win a new 2021 Ford Bronco Sport or $20,000. All proceeds being raised will go towards the Cheyenne Rotary Club Foundation to add to the impact of Rotary’s charitable work in Cheyenne. This fundraiser will help Cheyenne Rotary build the endowment to reach the $1million goal which will ensure long term, sustainable local community service. Only 2500 tickets will be sold. Raffle tickets can be purchased online or from any Rotary Club of Cheyenne member. Tickets are being sold at 1 for $50 or 3 for $100.
