Meeting Notes - August 14, 2012

At the Rotary meeting today, Tara Weaver greeted and introduced guests and visiting rotarians, Mallory Richey (outbound youth exchange student) provided an improptu thought for the day, and the club sang "For They Are Jolly Good Fellows" to Rotarians Henry Evans (2 years), Dan Hagney (5 years), JP Pougiales (8 years), and Lynaia South (6 years) in celebration of the service to Rotary, our club and community. Brian Harvey was our ggod news person.
Announcements featured the club's youth programs, with Kelly Bogerding introducing her matched summer exchange student, Chiara from Italy, and providing a brief overview of her exchange. Mallory Richey and Hope Nelson each spoke briefly about their excitement to do the year long youth exchange program and said good bye to the club, as they will depart for France on August 27. Emily Wertz, a Young RYLA attendee, introduced herself and thanked the club for providing her with the opportunity to go to Young RYLA. Emily's mom, Pam Wertz, also spoke of how inspirational the experience was for Emily, and she presented the club with a warm, fresh out of the oven Berry Crumb cake as a thank you.
Paul Hebert announced that the International Services Committee has selected Come Lets Dance as the international beneficiary for the Community Barn Dance. You might recall from the presentation last year that Come Lets Dance serves orphans in Uganda. The international beneficiary receives 10% of the net proceeds from the Barn Dance and the Come Lets Dance group is excited to bring their supporters to the event.
As today was a club day, club members played Rotary Bingo, with scratch lottery tickets won by BINGO achievers Tara Weiss, Eric Gripentroeg, Kelly Bogerding, and Kathy Elliott. After the game, we were able to see which rotarians met each square's criteria. Thanks to Alice Klauzer for her work on the Rotary Bingo game.
Good news was $210 and attendance was 66%.
