Meeting Notes - February and March 5th
Fellow Rotarians – my apologies for being so errant on our meeting notes communication - I’ll to try to send out these recaps a big more frequently. Timely items of import:
- Ski Day is next week – March 12. There is St. Patty’s Day singing at the Doak – come if you can! For the meeting we’ll have lunch and good news before heading to ski. If you can’t make it out skiing, definitely join the club (and bring a family member or friend) at the Alpine Club (in One Steamboat Place) at 4pm for revelries.
- District Conference registration is underway – but don’t register yet! The club will be conducting its own registration process, and the club will subsidize the cost of attendance. Please try to attend the conference!
- Club member commitments to the club’s endowment – pledge forms were handed out at the past two meetings. Please return any changes to Angela Catterson.
- The Ski Town Golf Classic is seeking sponsors. Sponsorship information packets were handed out at the last meeting and are also available from Mignon Stetman. Please contact Mignon if you and/or your business can be a sponsor of this critical event.
And here’s the long awaited recap of past meetings…..
February 12th: Thank you to Rotarians celebrating membership anniversaries in February – Mark Anderson (3 years), Gillian Morris (3 years), Jane Toothaker (5 years), Glen Traylor (just joined!!), and Dan Bonner (29 years) – for all of their service to the club and community. Also in our meeting, Jim McCreight provided a brief thought for the day, Brad Meeks and Lynna Broyles served as greeters, Glen Traylor was inducted into the club, Dylan Parsons from the Lowell Whiteman High School was honored as student of the month for February, Tom Kern was our Good News Guy, and our program focused on the activities and programs provided to the community by the Hayden Girl Scouts and the Steamboat Boy Scout Troop 194.
February 19th: At our meeting, club members honored and remembered Alfred Kahn and sent their best wishes to his family. Lynna Broyles provided our thought for the day, Kris Hammond led us in song, Kathy Elliot served as our greeter, and Eric Rabesa was our Good News Guy. Our program included an update on the “Steamboat Cloud” by Jon Quinn and John Kitchen, as well as a vintage classification talk by Robert Ralston.
February 26th: Kathy Elliot provided our thought for the day, Randy Rudasics and Steve Frasier served as greeters, Robert Wiens was inducted into the club (Welcome!), and Karl Gills served as our Good News guru. Our program focused on the club’s endowment, with the foundation committee giving members an update on the club’s endowment, updating the donor board, and recognizing Jack Black fellows for their charitable contributions to the club’s endowment.
March 5: Happy Birthday to Rotarians celebrating birthdays in March: Sharon Mensing, Coleman Cook, Dan Bonner, Ashley VanNexx, Jack Morrison, Chris Stillwell, Greg Stetman, and Jackie Brown! At the meeting, Karl Bunker provided our thought for the day (honoring Dr. Seuss), Jim Nowak and Paul Hebert served as our greeters, Coleman Cook was our good news guru, Matt Lieven was inducted into the club (Welcome!) Mignon Stetman and Scott Stanford provided an overview of the Ski Town Golf Classic, its history, it’s critical importance to the club, and how club members can get involved, Kelly Stanford provided an update on United Way’s Bridges out of Poverty program, and Scott Marr and the district conference committee briefed us on the fabulous speakers they have lined up for the District Conference.
