Sept 22 Meeting Recap
 

Thank you so much to PJ Wharton/Yampa Valley Bank and Dan Bonner/THPK for sponsoring today's lunch at Rex's!  Between Zoom and in person, we had a total of 58 participants - including 40 in person Steamboat Rotarians, 10 Zoomers, 2 visiting Rotarians, and 6 guests.  Thanks, always, to Chris Stillwell for getting all of our A/V set up and working properly and to the crew at Rex's for taking such good care of us.  Thanks to Steve Sehnert for stepping in as Zoom apprentice in the masters absence.
 
Mike Nelson provided the Thought for the Day: "Fall is a time for letting go, for accepting the impermanence of things and reflecting on what is. Just as autumn leaves fall from the trees, gently let go of anything that is not serving you."  
 
Gretchen Van De Carr, Founder and CEO of Rocky Mountain Youth Corps gave us a quick overview of RMYC, though we would need a year to really hear all that they do!  Her full presentation is attached.
RMYC Mission Statement: RMYC engages young people in the outdoors, inspiring them to use their strengths and potential to lead healthy, productive lives.  We teach responsibility for for self, community, and environment through teamwork, service and experiential education.   
 
Holly Rogers did a first reading for four new members: Karen Wray, Sung Ioffredo, Heather Martyn, and Larry Wennogle.  Any objections to these new members should be submitted in writing to hollyrotary@comcast.net.

John Weibel was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow for his incredibly generous (and delicious) Farm to Table fundraiser for the club!  Thank you John!

Andy Booker is looking for a volunteer to take the collection of crutches, ski poles, etc for Crutches 4 Africa to Denver.  The date for this transport is flexible.  Please reach out to Andy if you are available (with truck and/or trailer) at Andy.Booker@marriot.com.
 
Karl Gills announced that a new billing cycle will begin on October 1.  The split dues schedule is still being offered for Q4, however, the Leave of Absence dues will increase to $145 per quarter in order to cover membership expenses in full.  If you would like to change your dues payment, please coordinate that with Angela Catterson at angelacatterson@comcast.net.
 
John Holloway has arranged with Mitch Clark from Snowcountry Nursery to replace the fallen aspen and cottonwood trees at Rotary Park.  They are working on a date to get those in, so please keep an eye out for an email asking for extra hands on that project.  Also, Paula Cooper Black asked that Rotarians continue to walk Rotary Park at their leisure to keep it clean and beautiful!  If anyone would like to meet here there with a chainsaw to take care of the last couple stumps, please reach out to hear at pcblack65@gmail.com.
 
Applications are open for Rotary Board of Director seats for a 2 year term starting July 1, 2021. The club is also looking for a new secretary and president elect. District and International Updates

Next week (September 29th) will be our last meeting at Rex's for the time being.  October 6th will be a Zoom meeting with District Governor Chris Woodruff.  Weather permitting, Scott Wither, Coleman Cook and Marci Valicenti will be sponsoring an in person meeting on October 13th outdoors at Snowbowl.
 
We will continue to look for comfortable and creative ways to meet in person.  Please reach out to me with your ideas!
