The Club's Board of Directors will meet Monday, October 8 at noon at Rex's.  Everyone is welcome to attend and this month's meeting should include some good discussions regarding the future activities of the club.

In addition to hearing our regular reports from Treasurer Bill Kennedy and Secretary Steve Hitchcock, the board will discuss submitting a grant to the District for funding of an international project, learn and discuss the recommendations from the fundraising analysis committee, be brought up to speed on the club's two endowment funds at the Yampa Valley Community Foundation.

One of the Board's goals coming out of the Spring board retreat was to reduce the cost of the club to each member.  The board's first step on this path was to ask a group of rotarians (the fundraising analysis committee) to review each of the club's fundraising activities and analyze each activity in terms of membership contribution, return on investment to the club and beneficiary, public relations, community awareness, fellowship, and membership hours required. The fundraising analysis committee has worked diligently on this task and his providing its findings and recommendations to the board this month.

The club has two funds at the Community Foundation.  The Board wants to review the Steamboat Springs Rotary Endowment Fund (the Jack Black Fellows Fund) in order to understand how the fund would need to be modified in order to enable the fund to pay out scholarships.  The board will discuss modifying the fund, as well as the alternative to modifying the fund, which is to establish a separate fund for scholarships.  In addition, the board will look at the current policies in place with the Don Lufkin Rotary Lift Up Endowment Fund  - this fund was set up through a large donation by Don Lufkin to benefit Lift Up, and all proceeds from the fund are given to Lift Up.  The Don Lufkin fund is a donor advised fund with the Club as the donor, and the board will be brought up to speed on the current operations, sustainability and pay out policies for the fund.
